Background was selected for the Portfolio Reviews of the 12th edition of Art Photo Bcn, held from 23–25 May 2025 at Disseny Hub Barcelona, one of Spain’s leading platforms for contemporary photography and photographic publishing.
Selected through an international open call, nine emerging photographers were invited to present their projects to a panel of curators, editors, gallery directors and photography professionals
The participating artists were Carla Oset Vilanova (Background), Caroline Kist, Elena Bulet i Llopis, Eva Casanueva, Filippo Poli, Javier Arboledas, Joel Jiménez Jara, Lucía Morón and Skander Khlif.
The portfolio reviews provided an opportunity to present each project in a professional setting, fostering dialogue, critical feedback and new connections across the contemporary photography community.
As part of the 2025 edition, the Art Photo Bcn Award was presented to Caroline Kist, the IEFC Scholarship to Elena Bulet, and the Lumínic Award to Lucía Morón. Background was honoured with the Copias Wall Award.
